UK Retail Seminar
MFI Furniture Group Plc is today holding a seminar for analysts and investors on
its UK Retail business. After the presentation, there will be a site visit to
its Dartford store.
MFI now has 90 stores operating in the new format, and the majority of the
chain's orders now come from these stores. The increase in orders in these
stores continue to average around 20% in the first year, with full refit stores
seeing uplifts of more than 25%. The latest evidence is that the operating
margin in these full refit stores increased from 5% to 9% after refurbishment.
During the first half, the company has been piloting eight stores with an
improved version of its partial refit format for those stores that are not
suitable for a full refit.
The company is pleased with the returns these new formats are generating and
expects the benefit from both existing and new product categories to help to
increase UK Retail sales from £861 million in 2002 to £1.4 billion in 2006.
Today's presentation, which will be available from 10:00am on
www.mfigroup.co.uk, will focus primarily on the key drivers within MFI's UK
Retail business and its longer term prospects. The Group's next update to the
market will be Interim results on Thursday, 24 July, therefore there will be no
update on current trading at today's meeting.
