The following announcement amends and replaces the announcement made on behalf of V H C Cheng on 11 May 2009 under RNS number 0654S, at 17.31pm. The number of shares acquired on conditional awards under the HSBC Share Plan, as a result of the 2008 fourth interim dividend, incorrectly stated that 7,453 shares were acquired rather than 7,125. Consequently the total holding following notification has been adjusted to 1,418,511. A full revised version of the announcement is set out below:
