A number of typographical and formatting changes have been made to the Further
re Board Appts announcement released on 10 October 2002 at 16:10hrs under
RNS: 3377C.

Stewart Newton, Carole Taylor and Sir Brian Williamson were appointed as
non-executive directors of HSBC Holdings plc on 27 September 2002.
Pursuant to Rule 16.4(a) of the Listing Rules the details of publicly quoted
companies held currently and in the past five years are:
• Stewart Newton has not been a director of any publicly quoted companies in
the last five years;
• Carole Taylor is a director of Canfor Corporation and Fairmont Hotels &
Resorts. In the past 5 years Carole Taylor has been a director of Canadian
Pacific Limited, CP Rail and Chapters; and
• Sir Brian Williamson is a director of Electra Investment Trust plc. In the
past five years Sir Brian Williamson has been a director of Bank of Ireland,
Barlows plc, Gerrard Group plc and the JP Morgan Fleming Worldwide Income
Investment Trust plc.
There are no matters relating to the appointment of these directors which need
to be disclosed pursuant to Rule 16.4(b) of the Listing Rules.
