The following announcement amends and replaces the announcement made on behalf of V H C Cheng on 9 July 2009 under RNS number 4376V, at 16.49pm. The number of shares acquired on conditional awards under the HSBC Share Plan, as a result of the 2009 first interim dividend, incorrectly stated that 4,440 shares were acquired rather than 4,441. Consequently the total holding following notification has been adjusted to 1,428,915. A full revised version of the announcement is set out below:
