Hummingbird Resources plc ("Hummingbird" or "the Company" or "the Group")(AIM:HUM)
Continuation Resource Drilling, Dugbe F Gold project, Liberia
Hummingbird Resources plc today announces the commencement of the 2011 drilling programme at the Company's most advanced gold project, Dugbe F, in the Southern Birimian zone of Liberia. Dugbe F currently has a NI 43-101 indicated and inferred total resource of 812,000 ounces gold defined from 14,082 metres of drilling completed to date.
Two diamond drill rigs have been mobilized to site and the first rig has now commenced drilling, with the second expected to commence within the week. The programme is designed to extend the existing resource of 812,000 ounces, targeting the area lying south west of "anomaly A", starting within the Dugbe F license area and extending into the recently acquired "Joe Village" license area. The first stage of the ongoing programme is anticipated to drill around 5,000 metres with individual hole depth averaging 150 metres. Elsewhere within the Company's extensive exploration license portfolio, which to date stands at approximately 7,000km2, exploration programmes including soil sampling and trenching are in progress to identify potential drill targets. In addition, the Company has recently completed a scout drilling programme at Zia (comprising 17 holes and approximately 1,900 metres) and is currently awaiting results. An operational summary of activity will be reported in the Company's interim results, which are due to be announced later this month.
David Pelham has reviewed and approved the technical information contained within this announcement in his capacity as a qualified person, as required under the AIM rules. David Pelham is Technical Director of the Company and is a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
Commenting today Daniel Betts, CEO, of Hummingbird Resources: "With the commencement of drilling at Dugbe F our intention is to rapidly extend our understanding of the region and continue to increase the established NI43-101 compliant resource. Dugbe F is our most advanced project and it is our intention to progress this throughout 2011 as well as to build a pipeline of projects within our extensive portfolio. To date we have only drilled 2.8 kilometres within the Dugbe shear zone complex where we control at least 60 kilometres of structures. With a track record over the last 5 years of being highly efficient and effective in our exploration of Liberia, I believe our Company has the ability and funding to rapidly deliver value to shareholders by establishing an important new gold region in Africa."
