Dugbe F Project - 117% increase in total resource to 1.8m oz Au in 6 months of drilling

Hummingbird Resources Plc is pleased to announce an upgrade of the NI43-101 compliant resource at its Dugbe F Project in South Eastern Liberia from 812,000 ounces of gold to 1,765,000 ounces of gold, making it one of the fastest growing gold resources in West Africa.

Highlights

·    117% increase in total resource since IPO in December 2010

·    Total Indicated ounces of resource has increased by 149%

·    Grade of Indicated resource has increased by 20%

·    Additional drill targets have been generated within close proximity to this existing resource with drilling having started 3 kilometres east at the Tuzon anomaly, based on our strongest trenching results to date

The difference between the total and attributable resource statements is due to the deposit being within both the 100% Hummingbird owned Dugbe licence area and the 80% Hummingbird owned Joe Village licence area.

General

Since January 2011, the exploration work at the Dugbe F Project has seen a number of significant developments:

·    Over 20,000 metres have been drilled at the Dugbe F Project (including Tuzon) during 2011, of which the first 14,858 metres are included in this resource statement. 

·    The geological model is now much better understood.  A predictive new model has been developed to guide ongoing drill programmes.

·    The majority of the additional resource is close to surface, which is favourable for future mining scenarios. 

·    Assay data from the first three trenches at the Tuzon anomaly have been Hummingbird's best to date and are set out in the appendix to this announcement.

·    The model of multiple ore deposits within a 'mine camp radius' of the existing resources at the Dugbe F Project is developing well, with several attractive nearby prospects, at relatively advanced stages prior to drilling, including: Tuzon, Nemo Creek, Sackor and Crocodile Hill.  Follow the link below to view a map showing the locations of the prospects at the Dugbe F Project

·    Highly encouraging evidence of similar style gold mineralisation at a number of other localities along the Dugbe Shear Zone, including the Dugbe Block B, Dugbe Block D and Tiehnpo targets which lie within Hummingbird's 2,000 square kilometre land package across the Dugbe Shear Zone.

"I believe that the speed of this resource growth speaks for itself, in proving that Hummingbird has a very significant discovery in the Dugbe Shear Zone in South Eastern Liberia. The additional resources drilled this year are part of a flat lying extension to the Dugbe F Project, expanding the resource to the South West and it includes our best intersections to date.  This is extremely encouraging news for future potential mining of the Dugbe F Project. The regional exploration programmes, within the wider Dugbe Shear Zone, have also progressed at a rapid rate with the teams completing 2,500 metres of trenching and over 5,000 soil samples this year. These programmes have resulted in prolific target generation within close proximity to the deposit and these are currently being ranked for drilling. The Tuzon prospect, lying 3 kilometres to the east, is currently being drilled and has delivered our best trench results to date. I am thrilled with the speed of development and expansion of the project, and credit must go to our field teams for achieving so much throughout a difficult rainy season."

ACA Howe International Limited have calculated this NI 43-101 compliant resource for the purposes of the AIM market and have approved the content of this announcement.

Hummingbird Resources plc is an AIM quoted mineral exploration company incorporated in England and Wales and headquartered in London. Since its establishment in November 2005, the Group has been active in Liberia, West Africa, and is currently the holder of the largest area of mineral exploration ground in the highly prospective Birimian geological region of eastern Liberia.

The Group's most advanced gold exploration has taken place in the Dugbe and Joe Village licences, with a recently upgraded gold resource at the Dugbe F Project of 43.01 million tonnes at 1.276 g/t Au to give 1,765,000 ounces of gold using a lower cut-off grade of 0.5 g/t Au and no upper cut-off grade (Indicated Resource of 1,373,000 ounces of gold at 1.289 g/t Au and an Inferred Resource of 392,000 ounces of gold at 1.233 g/t Au). The exploration has been based on sound geological premises and has been executed in an efficient and practical manner according to best industry practices.

The Group currently holds exploration licences covering approximately 7,000 square kilometres in total, which constitutes a significant proportion of eastern Liberia containing the Birimian sequence.
