Directorate Changes


Alison Cooper and Nigel Northridge join the Board as Non-Executive Directors


Inchcape plc ('Inchcape' or 'the Group'), the world's leading car retailer, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Non-Executive Directors with effect from 1 July 2009.


Alison Cooper who is currently a member of the Board and Chief Operating Officer of Imperial Tobacco Group PLC will join the Inchcape Board as a Non-Executive Director and member of the Audit Committee.


Alison has been with Imperial for 10 years, where she has held several senior regional, divisional and corporate roles before being recently promoted to her current role. Previously she spent 11 years with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. 



Nigel Northridge, currently Chairman of Paddy Power plc, Senior Independent Director of Aggreko plc and Non-Executive Director of Thomas Cook Group plc will join the Inchcape Board as a Non-Executive Director and member of the Remuneration Committee.


Nigel spent 32 years with Gallaher Group plc in senior sales and marketing roles becoming the Group Chief Executive in 2000, a position in which he oversaw significant growth in shareholder value leading to the sale of the Company in 2007 for £9.4 billion.



Ken Hanna, Non-Executive Chairman, Inchcape plc said: 'We are delighted that Alison and Nigel have agreed to join our Board as Non-Executive Directors. Alison's experience of growing businesses of scale in mature and emerging markets, her finance, business development skills and her all round leadership characteristics are ideally suited to Inchcape. Nigel brings a wealth of experience of managing successfully in many of the major markets where Inchcape operates. I am sure his experience of running large, complex multinational companies, along with his senior Board level experience with other major UK public companies will be of great benefit to us'.


Save for the directorships disclosed above, there is no information required to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13R relating to the appointments to the Board of Alison Cooper and Nigel Northridge.
