                  Inchcape appoints new Non-executive Director

Inchcape plc, the international automotive services group, is pleased to
announce the appointment of Karen Guerra as a Non-executive Director. Karen will
join the Board of Inchcape on 1 January 2006.

Karen is President and Chief Executive of Colgate Palmolive France S.A., and was
appointed to their Board in 1999.

From 1988 to 1999 Karen held a number of positions within Colgate Palmolive UK
Limited, assuming the roles of Chairman and Managing Director, UK and Ireland,
in 1996. During this time, from 1996 to 1998, she also served as a Non-executive
Director for More Group plc. Previously, from 1986 to 1988, Karen was a
Marketing Manager, Holland and Ireland, at PepsiCo.

Peter Johnson, Group Chief Executive, said:
