                          Share re-purchase programme

Inchcape plc ('the Company') announces that on 22 April 2005 it purchased
160,000 ordinary shares of 150p each.  The price paid was 1907p.

The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.

Since the Company started buying back shares on 15 April 2005 it has acquired
688,781 ordinary shares.  Following the purchase of these shares, the Company
holds 688,781 of its shares in treasury and has 79,028,590 shares in issue
(excluding treasury shares).
