                          Share re-purchase programme


Inchcape plc ('the Company') announces that on 18 April 2005 it purchased 66,696
ordinary shares of 150p each.  The maximum price paid was 1895p and the minimum
price was 1857p.

The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.

Since the Company started buying back shares on 15 April 2005 it has acquired
176,696 ordinary shares.  Following the purchase of these shares, the Company
holds 176,696 of its shares in treasury and has 79,540,569 shares in issue
(excluding treasury shares).
