                          Share re-purchase programme



Inchcape plc ('the Company') announces that on 21 April 2005 it purchased
250,000 ordinary shares of 150p each.   The maximum price paid was 1912.50p and
the minimum price was 1900p.



The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.



Since the Company started buying back shares on 15 April 2005 it has acquired
528,781 ordinary shares.  Following the purchase of these shares, the Company
holds 528,781 of its shares in treasury and has 79,188,484 shares in issue
(excluding treasury shares).
