                          Share re-purchase programme

Inchcape plc ('the Company') announces that on 24 May 2005 it purchased 75,437
ordinary shares of 150p each.  The maximum price paid was 1778p and the minimum
price was 1770p.

The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.

Since the Company started buying back shares on 15 April 2005 it has acquired
1,681,338 ordinary shares.  Following the purchase of these shares, the Company
holds 1,681,338 of its shares in treasury and has 78,042,714 shares in issue
(excluding treasury shares).
