                          Share re-purchase programme


Inchcape plc ('the Company') announces that on 18 May 2006, it purchased
1,000,000 ordinary shares of 25p each.  The maximum price paid was 455p and the
minimum price paid was 439p

The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.

Since the Company started buying back shares on 15 April 2005, it has acquired
13,286,061 ordinary shares.  Following the purchase of these shares the Company
holds 13,286,061 of its shares in treasury and has 467,200,959 shares in issue
(excluding treasury shares).
