                          Share re-purchase programme



Inchcape plc ('the Company') announces that on 22 May 2006, it purchased 956,245
ordinary shares of 25p each.  The maximum price paid was 440p and the minimum
price paid was 416.75p

The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.

Since the Company started buying back shares on 15 April 2005, it has acquired
14,757,350 ordinary shares.  Following the purchase of these shares the Company
holds 14,757,350 of its shares in treasury and has 465,748,350 shares in issue
(excluding treasury shares).
