AGM Statement

Informa Group PLC 22 May 2002 Informa Group plc Annual General Meeting At today's Annual General Meeting of Informa Group plc, the company's Chairman, Peter Rigby, made the following comments: 'As we reported at our preliminary results on 12 March we have seen a stabilisation in market conditions during the first few months of this year. However the economic environment remains difficult and we have seen no upturn in the markets we serve. 'Advertising and delegate revenues are lower than for the same period last year but our subscription revenues have held firm with continuing high renewal rates. Sponsorship and exhibition revenues were above expectations for the first quarter, mainly due to the success of our largest event 3GSM. Some 80% of the 3GSM 2003 exhibition has already rebooked but we are seeing some weakening in this revenue stream for our smaller events. 'Our business is trading in line with expectations for the year to date with continuing cost control helping to offset any weaknesses in revenue. The Group has a strong forward programme of events and publications planned for the important September to December period. We believe the Group remains well positioned to take advantage of any economic upturn.'
