INFORMA GROUP PLC
AGM - 23 May 2000
CHAIRMAN'S STATEMENT
I am very pleased that you have all found the time to come
to our AGM.
My colleagues and I were delighted with our results for
last year. The organic profit growth of 17% and
the margin improvement help demonstrate the success of the
merger.
We believe this is only the beginning and expect to
unlock further benefits over the next few years. In
addition, the acquisitions of titles from EMAP,
Pearson and Baskerville towards the end of 1999 are
proving to be good ones and are contributing as we had
hoped to performance in the current year.
This year has stared encouragingly in many areas of our
business both in terms of market sector and geography. In
particular our Telecoms and Media results are very strong,
assisted by the GSM World Congress in February which was
our most successful event ever. At this stage our
results are ahead of the comparable period last year and
our prospects for the remainder of the year are good.
I would like to thank all of my colleagues throughout
Informa for working so hard to get us into this position
and also our shareholders and advisers for their continued
support.
