Awarded long-term contract to manage Agrishow
Informa plc ("Informa" or the "Group"), the leading business information and events group, is today announcing it has been awarded a 30-year license to run Agrishow in Brazil, commencing with this year's event, due to run from April 29th to May 3rd 2013.
Agrishow is the largest agricultural exhibition in Latin America, attracting close to 800 exhibitors and over 150,000 visitors, across an area of 440,000 square metres in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. The 2013 event will mark the 20th successful edition of the show.
The Brazilian agribusiness sector is one of the strongest and most productive in the world, with the full value chain representing close to 20% of the country's GDP. The 2010/11 crop grew 8.2% year-on-year, including a 3.2% increase in planted area and a 4.2% increase in productivity. The market value of the crop was estimated to be more than $100bn.
Peter Rigby, Chief Executive of Informa said:
"I am delighted that Informa has been awarded the contract to manage Latin America's largest agricultural trade show, Agrishow. We look forward to working closely with our trade association partners. Brazil is amongst the largest producers and exporters of food in the world, forecast by the UNO to account for 40% of the growth in food production through to 2030, and so this is a particularly exciting time to be entering into this partnership. Informa has deep roots in the agricultural and food industries through a wide range of leading industry publications, conferences and exhibitions across the world. Agrishow is an excellent fit for this portfolio, reinforcing our position as one of the pre-eminent information providers in this space."
