Intec Telecom Systems signs global licensing deal
for T-Mobile's international GSM companies
Logica and Intec partnership provides InterconnecT in Deutsche Telekom's
international T-Mobile subsidiaries
London, October 20th - Intec Telecom Systems PLC (Code: ITL), the world
leader in intercarrier billing systems, has signed a contract that will
provide its InterconnecT product to the international subsidiaries of T-
Mobile International AG, the international mobile communications arm of
Deutsche Telekom. InterconnecT will be installed and supported in T-Mobile
companies by Logica, already one of Intec's most successful business
partners.
T-Mobile has subsidiaries or joint ventures eligible to install
InterconnecT under this agreement in Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria,
Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, the UK, and Croatia, and is permanently extending
its global footprint through acquisitions and new ventures. T-Mobile has
also announced its intention to bid for UMTS (3G) licences in ten
countries, to add to the licences it has won in the UK, Germany and the
Netherlands.
A pilot installation of InterconnecT is already successfully operating in
T-Mobile's Czech subsidiary, RadioMobil, and InterconnecT will now be
available to Logica for installation in any other subsidiary or joint
venture of T-Mobile under a standard agreement. Intec will receive a
substantial licence fee for the group-wide deployment, as well as ongoing
support and volume-based licence upgrade revenues.
Hilmar von dem Bussche, T-Mobile's international IT coordinator, said:
'We are developing into a major pan-European organisation, and consider an
efficient IT infrastructure as a key success factor. Our international IT
strategy aims at combining the strengths of a large organisation with the
advantages of flexible local units. We need long-term partners that support
us in a smooth harmonisation of the IT landscape, based on products that
fit the needs of multiple operators in a number of countries. Our
experience to date with InterconnecT, after extensive investigation by a
multinational expert team and a successful pilot installation, together
with the impressive set of reference customers, has given us the confidence
to back this international agreement.'
Kevin Adams, Chief Executive Officer of Intec added:
'Intec is by far the dominant supplier of interconnect billing systems in
many parts of Western and Central Europe, and this agreement gives us
another substantial push forward in a number of key territories. T-Mobile
is a high-profile win for us, which we believe results from a combination
of Intec's leading market position and Logica's strong relationship with T-
Mobile.'
Jan Kubat, Managing Director of Logica Czech Republic, remarked:
'This contract is a good demonstration of Logica's ability to support the
creation of new relationships, which offer a competitive advantage to our
clients. Our long-term partnership with RadioMobil together with our global
reach as a leading consulting company will enable the entire T-Mobile group
to benefit from this leading edge software product.'
