Intec signs InterconnecT deal with EBT of Taiwan
* First major interconnect billing deal in Taiwan since the
liberalisation of the market
* Precursor to future business deals as company prepares for IP and 3G
services
September 4, 2001 London - Intec Telecom Systems, a world leader in
operational support systems (OSS) for telecom companies, today announced that
Eastern Broadband Telecom (EBT), Taiwan's first private fixed network
telecommunications operator, has selected its InterconnecT(TM) intercarrier
billing software solution to support the company's rapid delivery of
value-added, revenue-generating services. As part of the high-value deal,
Intec will provide the project management and systems integration expertise to
facilitate the in-service launch of the InterconnecT solution.
'Interconnect will enable us to increase network capacity without having to
worry about losing vital call traffic information,' says Paul Chang, Executive
Vice President of EBT. 'Accurate intercarrier billing solutions will provide a
fundamental source of revenue assurance and a solid backup for our network
planning and development as we expand the business to include IP and 3G
services.'
As the world's leading domestic and international intercarrier and settlement
system, InterconnecT will offer EBT a sophisticated solution that can be
tailored to meet its changing business needs. Following the liberalisation of
Taiwan's telecommunications market, the competition among carriers and the
demand for new customers has grown steadily, encouraging companies such as EBT
to prepare for the roll out of the latest services, including IP telephony,
Internet access and next generation networks. InterconnecT has the flexibility
to support EBT's new product introductions and the scalability to handle the
increase of traffic volume that will occur with the convergence of new
services.
'Taiwan's telecommunications industry is changing rapidly,' said Kevin Adams,
Chief Executive of Intec Telecom Systems. 'To survive in the newly liberalized
environment, companies must have cost-effective strategies to secure a
majority market share. InterconnecT will provide EBT with a competitive edge
by maximizing intercarrier revenue and facilitating the roll out of new,
value-added business services for its customers.'
