Re Contract
Intec Telecom Systems PLC
13 November 2001
Intec signs deal with Brazilian mobile leader TCO for
Inter-mediatE and InterconnecT
London/Sao Paulo, November 13, 2001 - Intec Telecom Systems plc (LSE: ITL), a
global provider of Operations Support Systems, has sold both its InterconnecT
(TM) and Inter-mediatE(TM) software solutions to Tele Centro Oeste (TCO), one of
Brazil's leading cellular operators. Under the agreement, which is valued at
US$1 million, TCO has licensed InterconnecT for intercarrier billing and
Inter-mediatE for convergent mediation. Inter-mediatE allows the company to
collect and process information on traffic carried over its network.
InterconnecT uses this data to enable TCO to bill other carriers and business
partners for using its networks and services.
'Intec's Interconnect and Inter-mediatE solutions will offer superior network
scalability and real-time support for new services', says Luiz Blanco,
Financial Director of TCO. 'They will also provide low-overhead operation and
maintenance, allowing us to concentrate on network improvements and customer
care.'
'This deal underlines our growing ability to offer a compelling solution set
to major operators, with both our key product lines included,' said Kevin
Adams, Intec's CEO. 'This deal also further strengthens our leadership in OSS
in Brazil, providing a platform to support future business expansion across
Latin America.'
Investment in the fast-growing telecommunications sector in Brazil is expected
to reach £40 billion pounds by the end of 2005. TCO, as one of the leading
mobile providers, already covers nearly 68 percent of the total Brazilian
territory and 17 percent of the country's population. Intec's billing
solutions will provide TCO with the scalability and flexibility to support the
evolution of its network in this dynamic environment. Interconnect and
Inter-mediatE are compatible across IP, mobile and fixed networks, enabling
TCO to collect raw network usage data from any type of network device and
transform it into billable business information.
