SONOFON Denmark selects Inter-mediatE for GSM and GPRS network
London - (October 8th, 2002) - Intec Telecom Systems, a global provider of
Operations Support Systems (OSS) for the communications industry, has signed a
deal with SONOFON, one of Denmark's leading mobile operators, for its
Inter-mediatETM convergent mediation technology. The agreement, valued in the
region of €1 million, will provide SONOFON with the capability to collect and
process usage data on voice, data and SMS traffic on its sophisticated GSM and
GPRS network. SONOFON, which joins other high-profile European customers using
Inter-mediatE for mediation including Hutchison 3G, Telia and COLT, expects to
begin processsing over 20 million events per day. SONOFON, jointly owned by
Telenor and BellSouth, cited Inter-mediatE's reputation for flexibility and
proven performance in high traffic mobile networks as key reasons for its
selection over other mediation solutions it considered:
"We looked carefully at many available options for mediation, focusing on the
key criteria of reliability, flexibility and functionality," explains SONOFON
Project Manager Sonny Jacobsen. "It was essential for us to choose both a
technically proven solution and a financially stable supplier with whom a
long-term relationship could be established. Intec's Inter-mediatE product,
combined with the company's strength in convergent OSS solutions worldwide,
meets all of our requirements. We are confident that Inter-mediatE can adapt to
any business scenario that may arise, giving us the flexibility to optimise our
GSM and 2.5G mobile revenue streams and to rollout innovative new services fast
and effectively."
Intec's Inter-mediatE platform will collect and process a wide range of data for
SONOFON, including GSM voice and SMS traffic, and information from GPRS Charging
Gateways, before delivering it to retail, interconnect and other downstream
systems such as fraud management. This critical role means that the proven
reliability of Inter-mediatE in over 100 fixed, mobile, IP and 3G networks
worldwide was key to SONOFON's confidence in the product.
"This is a significant contract win for Intec in a high-profile Scandinavian
operator and will generate more opportunities for mediation business in Europe,"
said Kevin Adams, Intec's CEO. "We see a growing acceptance of Inter-mediatE as
the solution of choice for complex, convergent, multi-service mediation
requirements such as those found in GSM and 2.5/3G networks. Intec's financial
stability, as a public company with very solid finances, is also clearly
becoming a factor in the decision-making process for customers."
