Appointment of Director 

International Biotechnology Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Véronique Bouchet to the Board of the Company as a non-executive Director, with effect from 1 September 2009. Dr Bouchet will also be appointed to the Audit, Nomination and Management Engagement Committees.

Véronique is currently Director of Corporate Strategy and Head of Venture Capital Relations at AstraZeneca PLC, having spent the previous twenty years in various clinical development, strategic and business development roles within the healthcare industry, including Zeneca Pharmaceuticals and latterly AstraZeneca PLC. Her experience encompasses many functions and healthcare industry sectors. The Board believes her comprehensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, along with extensive experience in venture capital operations, will enable her to make a significant contribution to the Company. The Board advises that Veronique's appointment has been made independently of her position at AstraZeneca PLC, and she will not be representing AstraZeneca PLC in her capacity as a Director of the Company.  

Véronique is a qualified medical doctor and holds a BSc in Psychology and the DRCOG qualification from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Véronique has been awarded an MBA from INSEAD and has a Diploma (Distinction) from the Coaching Academy UK.  

Véronique does not hold any other listed directorships. 

There are no further details that are required to be disclosed in respect of this appointment under LR 9.6.13 of the UK Listing Authority's Listing Rules.  As at today's date, Véronique had no beneficial interest in the shares of the Company.
