On 4 November, IAG announced that Iberia has agreed to acquire the entire issued share capital of Air Europa for €1 billion in cash. Completion is expected to take place in the second half of 2020.
British Airways will take delivery of its first Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner in early 2020 which will operate to Atlanta initially. The four-class aircraft features an eight seat First cabin, 48 new business class Club Suites and 35 World Traveller Plus and 165 World Traveller seats.
British Airways is introducing artificial intelligence to its airside operation at Heathrow Terminal 5 to improve punctuality. Intelligent software will capture every moment from when an aircraft arrives at the airport until it departs. This forms part of the airline's £6.5bn investment for customers.
Iberia is trialling an app-based biometric identity programme on flights from Madrid to Asturias or Brussels. Passengers will use a biometric profile on their phones to identify themselves at security control and boarding gates rather than showing travel documents.
