Royal Mail Announces Board Changes

 

Royal Mail plc (the Company) is pleased to announce that Rita Griffin is to be appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 December 2016. Rita will become a member of Royal Mail's Audit and Risk Committee at that time. 

The Company also announces today that Nick Horler will be retiring from the Board with effect from 28 February 2017. Nick will also step down as a member of the Nomination and Audit and Risk Committees at that time. 

Commenting on the Board changes, Peter Long, Chairman of Royal Mail, said:  

"Rita has an outstanding record as a business leader in a top 30, FTSE100 multinational business. Her breadth of experience in developing and implementing strategies and leading substantial transformation programmes will be of significant benefit to the Board.  I am delighted to welcome Rita to the Board as a  Non-Executive Director and look forward to working closely with her.

"I would like to thank Nick on behalf of the Board for his dedicated service and valued contribution.  Since his appointment in April 2010, Nick has assisted the Board through a tremendous period of change, driven by his background in regulated and customer-facing businesses. We wish him well for the future."

Rita Griffin is currently Chief Operating Officer, Global Petrochemicals, BP, one of three main divisions of BP's downstream business, for which she is responsible for both the performance delivery and strategic development.  Having been with the BP group for over 30 years, Rita has held a number of lead positions within their manufacturing, logistics, retail and functional organisations.  She is also a non-executive director of BP's joint venture in China, Shanghai Secco Petrochemical Company Limited.
