shopping channel
Ideal World's presenters bring to life the bigsave.com product range
Wednesday, July 19, 2000. In a pioneering deal announced today, one of the
UK's leading shopping channels, Ideal World TV, is providing a powerful new
route to market for a leading internet retailer, bigsave.com, through digital
satellite television.
Ideal World, a digital department store in its own right will feature 'The
bigsave hour', airing nightly at 8.00 pm, a prime time spot in Ideal World's
24 hour programming, broadcast via the station's channel 642 'live' to over 4
million households with digital satellite receivers.
The new programme is a unique marketing campaign to capitalize on the
familiarity of TV in British homes as a powerful force in educating and
exciting consumers as to the tens of thousands of products available under the
bigsave.com banner.
A special selection of 'high value, low price' products from the bigsave
online catalogue will feature savings of as much as 50% on high street prices.
Focusing on a different product range every day, the programme will bring
these products to life in detailed demonstrations. Ideal World's presenters
will take viewers' calls 'live' on air and answer questions as well as provide
the brand of home shopping, family fun and entertainment that has quickly
become a hallmark of Ideal World TV. Customers can place orders through Ideal
World's call centre or via the bigsave.com web site.
Paul Wright, CEO of the channel's parent, Ideal Shopping Direct Plc,
commented, 'Cross promotion and leverage, capitalising on the strengths of one
medium for the benefit of another is the key here. A large number of customers
say they prefer Ideal World TV because of our ability to explain the detail
and the benefits of products and services in a friendly and entertaining way.
It is a personal service using modern technology. With this opportunity we can
unlock the range of bigsave bargains to our audience, many of whom are still
uncomfortable with the internet and shy of e-commerce.'
