Intertek acquires Amtac Certification Services Ltd ('ACSL')


Intertek, the global testing, inspection and certification company, announces
the acquisition of 100% of the issued share capital of ACSL for £1.4m in cash.


ACSL provides quality and management systems audits and certification services
to global medical device manufacturers, importers and retailers. Turnover for
the year ended April 2003 was £0.9m and adjusted profit before tax was £0.25m
with growth expected this year. ACSL is based in Manchester and will be
integrated into the ETL SEMKO division of Intertek. This acquisition will create
opportunities to expand system certification services and testing and
certification of medical devices both in the UK and overseas.
