                 CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF INTERTEK GROUP PLC

Further to the announcement made on the 2nd November 2004, the Board is pleased
to confirm that Dr Wolfhart Hauser,  formerly Non-Executive Director of the
Group, has today become joint Chief Executive Officer with Richard Nelson.

On the 31st March 2005 Richard Nelson will cease to be Chief Executive Officer
and will be an Executive Director until  the 8th April 2005 when he becomes Non-
Executive Deputy Chairman. Wolfhart Hauser will become sole Chief Executive 
Officer on the 31st March 2005.
