             NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTERESTS IN INVESTEC PLC SHARES

Investec plc received notification from Spurwing-P Investments Limited on  21
July 2006 that as a consequence of the winding up of Spurwing-P Investments 
Limited, its holdings of ordinary shares of GBP0.001 each (the 'Ordinary
Shares') in the issued share capital of Investec plc has changed as detailed in
the tables  set out below.
