It is announced that, as part of the current Group restructuring, Richard Clarke
(Group CFO) and Scott Massie (President, IQE Inc.) will leave the Group and
consequently they have resigned as directors of IQE plc with effect from 31
August 2002.  The Board extends its appreciation to both Richard and Scott for
their contributions to the business, particularly during the recent difficult
market conditions.

Tim Hawkes, FCMA, who joined the Group in March 2002, has been appointed acting
Group CFO with immediate effect, and Howard Williams, who has been with the
Group since 1988, has been appointed acting General Manager of IQE Inc.
