IQGeo software selected by a major Japanese power provider
Cambridge, 10th October 2019 - IQGeo Group plc (AIM: IQG) today announces a new contract with one of Japan's largest power providers.
In September, Eastern Japan was hit by category 4 Typhoon Faxai, which resulted in power failure for over 640,000 homes. This customer worked with IQGeo, and its partner NESIC, to implement its geospatial platform. IQGeo's mobile-first architecture enabled real time sharing of information to help restore power quickly and efficiently across the affected area.
The success of this rapid deployment exercise has led to IQGeo winning a contract to roll out the platform to an initial 500 users, making this latest win IQGeo's largest customer in Japan.
Richard Petti, CEO at IQGeo, said: "We understand how important safety is to our customers and we were pleased that our product played an integral role into restoring power to the areas affected by Typhoon Faxai. We have a long-standing history of working closely with our utility customers following natural disasters and providing exceptional support during major disruptions. We're delighted with our latest signing in Japan and we look forward to continue expanding our market share in collaboration with our partner NESIC."
