CONTRACT EXTENSION
JAGUAR AND LAND ROVER HAVE EXTENDED THEIR CONTRACT WITH ITIS
AND LAUNCH RDS-TMC ON THE NEW JAGUAR XK
ITIS Holdings plc (ITIS) today announces a contract extension with Jaguar Land
Rover to supply its RDS-TMC (Radio Data System - Traffic Message Channel) until
the end of 2008.
Concurrent with this contract Jaguar will launch the ITIS RDS-TMC service as a
standard feature on the factory-installed satellite navigation system, which is
available on the new Jaguar XK factory fitted satellite navigation systems from
launch.
Jaguar Cars are the fourth of the Ford Motor Company brands to standardise the
ITIS RDS-TMC service and this contract is part of a larger framework agreement
to provide this service across all of the other Premier Automotive Group brands
including Aston Martin and Volvo and Jaguar. ITIS already supplies RDS-TMC to
Ford, Land Rover and Volvo.
The new XK's navigation system is enabled to receive the TMC messages broadcast
by ITIS, which holds the UK licence to broadcast TMC awarded by the Radio
Authority (now Ofcom). Satellite navigation systems enabled for TMC receive
real-time traffic information data from ITIS, not only to provide drivers with
aural and visual alerts on traffic hold-ups ahead, but also automatically
suggest alternative routes enabling drivers to dynamically re-route around
congestion.
Stuart Marks, Chief Executive, ITIS Holdings plc, commented, 'We are pleased
that Jaguar joins other premium brands in selecting ITIS to provide its RDS-TMC
service. Dynamic Route Guidance turns the Jaguar XK satellite navigation system
into a very compelling feature for today's drivers.'
