ITIS extends Additional Service licence for further eight years
ITIS Holdings plc (ITIS) today announces that the Members of the Radio Authority
have awarded the Additional Service (AS/1) licence to the Company for the
broadcasting of a commercial RDS-TMC service (Radio Data System - Traffic
Message Channel).
The new licence has been awarded to ITIS for a period of eight years from 1
January 2004 and ensures that the Company remains in its current position as the
exclusive national provider of this service. The award of the licence is
conditional upon the acceptability to the DTI of the technical plan submitted by
ITIS.
ITIS currently provides RDS-TMC to vehicle manufacturers Toyota and BMW as well
as VDO Dayton, Panasonic and Alpine navigation systems.
Stuart Marks Chief Executive of ITIS commented, 'We are delighted to have been
awarded the AS/1 licence for a further eight years. This is excellent news for
both the automotive industry and drivers who rely on the integration of dynamic
traffic information to avoid congestion.
RDS-TMC is the only international standard for providing traffic data to a
navigational system. It is widely adopted by manufacturers with virtually all
screen based Satellite Navigation systems being TMC compliant. Many vehicle
manufacturers see this as a low cost entry point to providing high quality
driver information services.
The award means we can continue to support our existing customers as well as
further develop our services in the knowledge that we have a long term channel
to market'.

Notes to editors:
ITIS Holdings plc, listed on Aim, is the UK's leading provider of traffic
information and vehicle security services.
RDS-TMC (Radio Data Service - Traffic Message Channel) is the European Standard
for providing traffic data over conventional FM radio to in-vehicle receivers
which include car radios and in-car navigation systems supporting TMC
functionality. Traffic information is transmitted as a code that is then
translated into voice, text or icon depending on the receiver. The ITIS TMC
service conforms to the standards which are now being adopted by many of the
leading receiver and navigation system manufacturers. The Company recently
issued an authoritative report on the market for RDS-TMC and satellite
navigation. This is available by contacting the Company on 0161 929 5788 or

ITIS has invested in the development of a unique system for the collection and
analysis of traffic information; it combines information from the AA traffic
control centres with ITIS Historic and real-time Floating Vehicle Data (FVD) to
provide Journey time forecasts and real-time updates. ITIS now operates the
largest commercial application of FVD anywhere in the world, and delivers the
content over a variety of platforms including RDS-TMC (Alert C), digital radio
and automated telephone services (IVR) under the AA RoadWatch brand.
Through its NavTrak business (www.navtrak.com), ITIS has developed a unique and
innovative stolen vehicle tracking service delivered via GPS/GSM technology
which offers theft alerts, vehicle tracking and police liaison throughout
Europe.
