The Highways Agency purchases ITIS Floating Vehicle Data for Network Monitoring


ITIS Holdings plc (ITIS) today announces that the Highways Agency, who manage,
maintain and improve the network of trunk roads and motorways in England, on
behalf of the Secretary of State, has signed a significant 3 year licence with
ITIS to use its historic Floating Vehicle Data (FVD) to help monitor the
network.

ITIS has developed and now operates the world's largest FVD TM network using
information gathered from tens of thousands of cars, coaches and commercial
vehicles, all of which are equipped with position enabled black boxes.
Information is gathered by ITIS in real time and stored for historic analysis
across the entire 8,000 miles of the Strategic Road Network.

ITIS has also created a data warehouse called the Congestion Index TM  that
currently  contains in excess of half a billion speed and location records,
which represent the most comprehensive source of historic traffic information
available on the UK road network. The data stored within the Congestion Index TM
is constantly being increased, thereby ensuring that the Highways Agency will be
in a position to make more informed and immediate decisions about the network.

Using proprietary software, the data will be used by the Highways Agency to
derive average speeds and journey times and help the process of network
management across all motorways and major trunk roads.
