                     Appointment of non-executive director

ITV plc announces that Mike Clasper CBE will be appointed as a non-executive
director of the Company with effect from 3rd January 2006.   Mike Clasper is the
Chief Executive Officer of BAA plc and prior to 2001 was with Procter & Gamble
where he held senior positions in both marketing and operational management.

Sir Peter Burt, Chairman of ITV plc said:

'We are very pleased that Mike Clasper will be joining the Board of ITV.  His
experience both in running a major service based commercial operation and
previously in the FMCG industry will enable him to make a valuable contribution
to our Board.'

Mike Clasper said:

'I am delighted to be joining ITV as a non-executive director.  They have been
successfully developing their new digital television channels and broadening
their revenue base beyond ITV1.  The Board can help the executive management by
supporting that process going forward.'
