AGM Statement
At the Annual General Meeting of James Halstead plc held today, all the
resolutions were passed. The Chairman, Mr Geoffrey Halstead, made the following
statement:
'I would like to update you of the Group's position in the current financial
year.
As always, I qualify my comments by stating that these comments do not
constitute a forecast:
Five months into the year I am pleased to report that the group is trading ahead
of last year.
Profitability in our core floorcovering business shows steady growth. Our
German company continues to operate in a difficult economy, but following the
result of major reorganisations, as noted in the report and accounts, our
Australasian businesses, as a whole, are performing well.
Phoenix Distribution, our motorcycle accessories business, shows progress
following a difficult year.
Looking forward, I am confident that we can achieve another year of progress for
the Group.'
