Appointment of Non-Executive Director

JD Sports Fashion Plc, the leading retailer of sports inspired fashion apparel and footwear, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Leslie as a non-executive Director with effect from 1^st May 2010. 

Andrew Leslie, 63, has over 40 years of experience in the retail, footwear and apparel sectors.  Most recently he was an Executive Board Director of Pentland Brands PLC, from which he retired in 2008.    During his career, Andrew also held a number of senior positions with British Shoe Corporation, The Burton Group Plc and Timpson Shoes Limited. 

Andrew is not currently a director of any other publicly listed company and has not been so within the past five years.  There are no other details to disclose under paragraph 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules in relation to his appointment. 

Commenting on the appointment, Peter Cowgill, Executive Chairman, said: "We are delighted that Andrew has agreed to join the board as a non-executive director.  With his considerable experience in the sectors that the Group operates in, he will be a valuable addition to the board."
