John David Sports plc appoints Barry Bown as Chief Executive
The Board of John David Sports Plc ('JD Sports') is pleased to announce the
appointment of Barry Bown as Chief Executive of the company with immediate
effect. John Wardle will remain Executive Chairman of the company.
JD Sports is a leading specialist retailer of fashionable branded sports and
leisure wear based in Heywood, Lancashire with some 136 stores nationwide.
Barry joined JD Sports in 1984. He is presently the Chief Operating Officer
of the company and was appointed to the Main Board in July 2000.
John Wardle, Chairman, John David Sports plc, commented: 'I am delighted to

extensive retail experience and has been an invaluable member of the team as
we have re-aligned the business to its customer base in recent years. Barry
