Johnson Matthey Catalysts and China Petrochemical International Company
(Sinopec) Announce Collaboration Agreement
Johnson Matthey Catalysts, Johnson Matthey Plc's Process Catalysts and
Technologies business, and the China Petrochemical International Company Ltd
(Sinopec), are pleased to announce that they have commenced a long term
collaboration agreement which will position the two partners as leading
suppliers to the global market for oil refinery hydroprocessing catalysts.
The two companies have recently signed a commercial agreement under which
Johnson Matthey Catalysts will market Sinopec's hydroprocessing catalysts to oil
refineries outside China. Johnson Matthey Catalysts and Sinopec will work
closely together using each other's strengths to provide the global oil refinery
market with high quality, industrially proven, catalysts. The initial focus of
the agreement will be on refinery hydroprocessing catalysts, however
collaboration in other oil refining catalyst markets will also be investigated.
Commenting on this agreement, Neil Carson, Johnson Matthey's Chief Executive
said:
'Sinopec are the 3rd largest oil refiner in the world and a major player in
associated catalyst technology. I am delighted that we have secured this
important collaboration agreement with them which will provide both companies
with exciting long term opportunities to extend their participation in the oil
refining catalyst market outside China. This collaboration represents an
important strategic step for Johnson Matthey, strengthening our product and
technologies offering into a new target catalyst market.'
