                               AGM STATEMENT 2004


At the Annual General Meeting, which commenced at 3pm today, the Chairman Simon
Sherrard made the following statement.

'All our businesses have performed to expectation in the first 4 months of the
year.

There has not been, as yet, any tangible improvement in the textile rental
market, which remains difficult.  However we continue to implement management
initiatives and invest for further improvements in the business.  We have
continued to expand our corporate hospitality business through the acquisition
of HSS Event Hire and have identified growth areas in drycleaning.

In my statement in the Annual Report I commented on the improved growth
prospects and stronger market positions achieved through strategic changes.  We
are seeing good growth prospects in our facilities management and sourcing
business.

The Group continues to believe that it will achieve a satisfactory outcome for
the year.

Board Changes

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Moate as an Executive Director
of the Company with effect from 12th May 2004. Simon is currently Director of
Corporate Strategy and joined the Group in October 2002 having previously held
several senior commercial roles with Aramark and Coca Cola.

In addition Michael Del Mar is to be appointed as a Non-Executive Director with
effect from the same date. Until December 2003 Michael was with UBS Investment
Bank having joined S G Warburg in 1990. He brings a wealth of city experience to
the Group.'
