Preference Dividend

This is to confirm that at a meeting of the board of Directors held on 22nd
May 2001, the following resolution was passed:-

To pay on the 2nd July 2001 a preference dividend of 3.75p per share on the
7.5p (net) Convertible cumulative redeemable preference shares for the half
year to 30th June 2001 to shareholders on the register at the close of
business on the 8th June 2001.  The ex dividend date is 6th June 2001.
