           Appointment of Simon Sherrard as a Non Executive Director
                                       
                                       
Johnson Service Group PLC, is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon
Sherrard to the Board as a Non Executive Director with effect from 4 January
2000.

Mr Sherrard has been Executive Chairman of Bibby Line Group Limited since
1997, having previously been Group Managing Director.  Bibby is a business to
business services group whose activities include shipowning and operation,
shallow water accommodation, offshore oil services, contract distribution and
debt factoring.

Mr Sherrard started his career with Samuel Montagu & Co Ltd and subsequently
spent eleven years in the Far East with Jardine Matheson & Co Ltd.

There are no other details required to be disclosed by paragraph 16.4 of the
Listing Rules.

Simon Sherrard, aged 52, lives in Cheshire with his wife and four children
aged between 15 and 23.

Commenting on the appointment John Hancox, Chairman, said: 'We are very
pleased that Simon Sherrard has agreed to join the Board.  He will bring a
wealth of business experience that will enable him to make a real contribution
to our deliberations.'
