                            APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTORS




The Board of JPMorgan Fleming American Investment Trust plc is pleased to
announce the appointments of Sarah Bates and Kate Bolsover as non-executive
Directors of the Company with effect from 1st July 2005.



Sarah Bates is a Director of Witan Pacific Investment Trust plc, St James's
Place Capital plc, New India Investment Trust plc and Invesco English and
International Trust plc.  Until June 2003, she was Chief Executive Officer of
INVESCO's UK Institutional business, including its investment trust activities,
having previously been a fund manager, Head of UK Equities and joint Chief
Investment Officer.



Kate Bolsover retired as Director of Corporate Communications at JPMorgan
Cazenove in June 2005 having joined Cazenove Fund Management as Head of Sales
and Marketing in 1995.  Between 1992 and 1995 she was Managing Director of
Signature Financial Group, having worked at Baring Asset Management between 1985
and 1992, latterly as Managing Director of the Mutual Funds Group.
