                     JPMORGAN CHINESE INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

                           ONGOING ISSUE OF SHARES


Further to the announcements on 7th and 10th July 2006 by JPMorgan Chinese
Investment Trust plc (the 'Company') regarding ongoing issues of shares, the
Board announces that the Company's applications to the Financial Services
Authority for up to approximately 22 million new shares to be admitted to the
Official List, and to the London Stock Exchange for such new shares to be
admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange's main market for listed
securities, have been approved.

The Company is therefore able to issue new shares pursuant to the authority
granted by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held in December 2005. The
Board is also seeking a new shareholder authority at an Extraordinary General
Meeting of the Company convened for 1st August 2006 which will enable the
Company to issue the full number of shares for which a listing has been granted.
