                     JPMORGAN CHINESE INVESTMENT TRUST PLC


                                 TREASURY STOCK


JPMorgan Chinese Investment Trust plc has today purchased into treasury 94,000
ordinary shares at 105.05 pence per share.

Following the transaction the remaining shares in issue less the total number of
treasury shares is 71,754,001. The Company will only re-issue shares held in
treasury at a premium to net asset value.
