naming of additional investment manager

Fourth quarterly interim dividend

The Directors have declared that a fourth quarterly interim dividend of 9.50 pence per share for the year ended 31st December 2017 will be paid on 1st March 2018 to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 2nd February 2018. The ex-dividend date will be 1st February 2018. This payment will bring the total dividend for the year ended 31st December 2017 to 26.00 pence (2016: 23.00 pence), an increase of 13% over the previous year.

This declaration continues the Company's record of increasing the total dividend each year since 1972 and the growth of the total dividend for the 45th successive year.

Naming of additional investment manager

Callum Abbot has been appointed as a named investment manager on the portfolio in light of the sad death of Sarah Emly. Callum joined JPMorgan's Behavioural Finance team in 2012 and has been working with William Meadon on the management of the portfolio. He is currently the named investment manager on a number of UK equity funds, notably the JPMorgan UK Equity Core Fund.
