JPMorgan Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc
Adjournment of Extraordinary General Meeting
8 December 2005
The Board of JPMorgan Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc (the 'Company') has
been informed by the board of F&C Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc ('F&C
Emerging') that a significant shareholder in F&C Emerging, has lodged a proxy
voting against the resolution required to implement the proposed reconstruction
of that company and has indicated to the board of F&C Emerging an intention to
dissent from the Scheme under section 111 of the Insolvency Act 1986.
Given the uncertain effect of any significant dissent from the Scheme, the
Company's Board has sought and received Shareholders' approval to adjourn the
Company's extraordinary general meeting convened for 9.30 a.m. today. The
Extraordinary General Meeting was adjourned until 9.30 a.m. on 16 December 2005,
by which time it is expected that the extent of any dissent from the Scheme will
have been confirmed. The adjourned meeting will be held at Finsbury Dials, 20
Finsbury Street, London EC2Y 9AQ.
The Board continues to recommend the Company's participation in the Scheme and
is taking this action to protect the Company and its Shareholders from any
adverse impact that may result from the actions of the shareholder referred to
above. The Board is pleased that 99.4% of the votes lodged by proxy by the
Company's existing shareholders have been cast in favour of the resolution to
approve the Company's issue of New Shares in connection with the Scheme.
