STOCK EXCHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT
JPMORGAN FLEMING EMERGING MARKETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC
Following the Annual General Meeting of the Company, which was held yesterday,
the Board is pleased to announce that all of the resolutions put to shareholders
were passed, including a Special Resolution, proposed under Special Business,
which will allow the Company to make market purchases of up to 13,520,113
ordinary shares, representing 14.99% of the Company's issued share capital.
Shareholders have been very supportive of the Company with over 64% of all
shareholders voting by proxy, with an overwhelming majority voting in favour of
all the resolutions. The Board is especially pleased that, for Resolution
Number 7, the continuation of the Company as an investment trust for a further
three year period, 100% of shareholders voting at the meeting voted in favour.
The Board remains positive about the opportunities for investments in Emerging
Markets over the next few years and that JPMorgan Fleming as Manager are
equipped to outperform the sector.
JPMorgan Fleming Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc performed well over the
Company's financial year to 30th June 2004 and has continued to do so in the
ensuing three months. For the year to 3oth June 2004, the net asset value rose
by 28.2%, outperforming the rise of 21.1% in the Company's benchmark, the MSCI
Emerging Markets Free Index (in sterling terms). This outperformance has
continued in the current year and, for the period 1st July - 30th September
2004, the net asset value increased by 10.3% and the benchmark rose by 8.4%
