JPMORGAN EMERGING MARKETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR

The Board of JPMorgan Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Arkle as a non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1st September 2013.

Mrs Arkle is a Non-Executive Director of Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust plc, Henderson Group plc and a member of the Newnham College Cambridge Investment Committee. She was previously an advisor to the South Yorkshire Pension Fund.

Mrs Arkle was Non-Executive Vice Chairman of Threadneedle Asset Management from 2011 to 2012, where she had worked in an executive capacity from 1983 to 2011. From 2001 to 2010 she was Chief Investment Officer, prior to which she held a number of senior positions within that firm, including Head of Equities and Managed Funds.

Mrs Arkle does not own any shares in the Company.

No further information is to be disclosed in respect of paragraphs 9.6.13 (2) - (6) of the UKLA Listing Rules for Mrs Arkle.
