THE FLEMING EMERGING MARKETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC
Half Yearly Report for Six Months Ended 31st December
1999
London, 3rd February, 2000
The Fleming Emerging Markets Investment Trust Plc today
announced its results for the six months ended 31st
December, 1999.
There was an increase in net assets of 26.7% compared to
the position on 30th June 1999. The benchmark index, the
MSCI Emerging Markets Free Index, rose 16.4% over the
same period.
Commenting on the results, the Chairman, Roger Murray,
stated:
'The investment environment has been dramatically
transformed from that which we experienced a year ago. A
broad recovery in emerging markets continues apace, and I
am very pleased to report that the Net Asset Value (NAV)
of your Company has now appreciated by over 87% during
the last twelve months. This performance is due in part
to the improving conditions in markets, but also in
significant measure to strong performance by our
investment managers over the period.'
The share price of 154.3 pence represents a 100% increase
on the share price of 77 pence as at 31 December 1998.
The interim statement (unaudited) for the six months to

March 2000, and copies will be available to the public at
