JPMORGAN EUROPEAN SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC

In conformity with the Transparency Directive we would like to notify the market of the following:

As at 31st May 2012, the share capital of JPMorgan European Smaller Companies Trust plc (the 'Company') consists of 39,968,803 Ordinary 25 pence shares.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 39,968,803.

The above figure (39,968,803) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to, their interest in the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
